Pat Farenga can consult with you about homeschooling/unschooling issues you face. Pat can help you determine how you want to start living and learning with your children and where it can lead. He can also help you negotiate any paperwork or contacts with school officials if you are required to do so; how to present unschooling to skeptics and educators; how to negotiate alternative assessments if you want to avoid standardized tests; how to prepare and apply for college admissions with an unconventional high school transcript; and other issues related to learning in nontraditional ways.
As an unschooling father, he has experience living and learning with three daughters, 26, 23, and 20; they are either in college or working in fields they enjoy. Our daughters have all moved in and out of school as they wanted while they were school age and I can address many of the emotions and issues involved in deciding what to do if your child asks to go to school or decides they want to leave school and learn at home.
Pat also works with businesses, large and small, to present insights and overviews of the homeschooling movement to help them launch or study products, books, and websites.
Pat is not a marriage counselor or family therapist and does not feel qualified to help families or couples work through nonhomeschooling issues, even though, of course, these issues directly affect your homeschooling.
Consultations last 50 minutes and can be conducted over the phone, through Skype, or through iChat. The charge is $125/session.
Pat is also willing to arrange face-to-face consultations at conferences he attends and locally in the Boston area. Contact Pat in advance to schedule your consultation; he will then send you a brief questionnaire to help him prepare for your consultation. For more biographical information on Pat, visit here.
